Introduction

New Balance has successfully pivoted from a legacy athletic company to a dominant force in high-fashion and streetwear culture. This project was a dedicated exploration of that evolution through footwear-driven photography and video content. My objective was to document the "New Age" of the brand where utilitarian design meets a noteworthy editorial aesthetic. This wasn't just about showing a shoe. It was about creating a visual narrative that reflects New Balance’s current standing as a premium lifestyle icon. I led the direction for this project by focusing on the technical details that make the modern New Balance silhouette so distinctive. I spent significant time exploring specialized lighting configurations designed to pull out the textures of the suede and the reflective hits that define their current catalog. Beyond the technical setup I took a hands-on approach to directing models and managing the overall styling. I worked to ensure the wardrobe choices complemented the footwear without distracting from it. By maintaining a high-fashion lens I was able to produce a suite of assets that felt both aspirational and authentic to the brand’s new direction. This involved a deep dive into composition and movement to ensure the final video and photo assets carried a sense of effortless style. Every frame was built to speak directly to a fashion-forward audience that values both comfort and a high-end visual pulse.

The primary challenge of this project was translating the brand's long-standing heritage into a contemporary visual language. I had to ensure the content felt "new" and "fresh" without losing the classic identity that New Balance fans expect. Achieving a high-fashion look on a tight production schedule required a disciplined approach to model direction and lighting adjustments.

We had to move quickly between setups while maintaining a pixel-perfect standard for the footwear. By staying focused on the specific "pivot" the brand is currently making I was able to navigate these demands and deliver a cohesive look that aligns with their global rebrand.
