The primary challenge of this project was the extreme sensitivity of the subject matter. Every design choice had to be measured against a trauma-informed standard to ensure the content did not cause further distress to survivor communities. I had to navigate the fine line between creating urgent, attention-grabbing visuals for policy change and maintaining a respectful, somber tone that honored the lives lost.
Balancing these ethical requirements with the need for high-performance marketing and social engagement required constant refinement and a deep understanding of the coalition’s mission. We overcame these hurdles by adhering to strict ethical disclaimers and focusing on a clean, professional aesthetic that emphasized the gravity of the data.

My work with the NCCADV was a lesson in the power of visual permanence for social good. By providing a professional design and strategy framework, I helped the coalition turn their research into a compelling call to action for the state of North Carolina.
The resulting assets provided the technical and creative authority needed to engage with policymakers on a serious level. At the end of the day, I delivered a strategic toolkit that supports the ongoing fight for safety and justice for domestic violence survivors.
Next projects.
